The Provost of the College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Professor Christian Agyare, has charged graduates to uphold professional ethics and integrity as they embark on their careers. He made this call at the 58th congregation ceremony of the College on Monday, 28th November 2024 at the Great Hall.
Professor Agyare emphasised the importance of professional ethics, accountability, and integrity in achieving success and called on the graduates to be ambassadors of KNUST in their respective fields.
According to the Provost, this year’s congregation of the College of Health Sciences awarded degrees to 1,713 undergraduates comprising 787 males and 926 females. He entreated the graduates to emulate the highest standards of professionalism KNUST has instilled in them. “KNUST has equipped you to excel as independent thinkers, problem solvers, and innovators. Live up to the core values of KNUST by exhibiting the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity, alongside a culture of accountability and responsibility in all your endeavours,” he advised.
Professor Agyare further encouraged the graduates to maintain close relationship with their alma mater by joining the KNUST Alumni Association. “This is where your networking begins. Membership in the alumni association provides you with an opportunity to mobilize resources and support for KNUST while staying connected to a strong professional network,” he noted.
Delivering a motivational message, the President and Medical Director of Living Waters Specialist Hospital, Dr. Gabriel Sakyi Kwofie, inspired graduates to diversify their skillsets and expand their career aspirations. He urged them to go beyond the confines of their specific disciplines, noting the growing importance of versatility in the healthcare sector. “Always remember that rigidity in health sciences will confine you to a small environment. Broaden your horizon in leadership, management, accounting, human resources, and procurement. Explore formal education or self-paced learning platforms like podcasts and YouTube to expand your skillset,” he encouraged.
Dr. Kwofie advised graduates to prioritise building strong social networks and seeking mentorship. “The relationships you build will significantly impact your success. Network with like-minded individuals and find mentors who can provide valuable insights and guidance as you navigate your career,” he said.
Kwaku Ohene Amoani, a graduate from the School of Medical Sciences, emerged as the overall best graduating student with an impressive Cumulative Weighted Average (CWA) of 83.19 in BSc. Human Biology (Medicine). Some outstanding graduates also received certificates of achievements for emerging tops in their various departments.

The ceremony celebrated the graduates' achievements and reinforced KNUST’s commitment to producing professionals dedicated to excellence, ethical practice, and innovation.
